The grape variety 'Picpoul,' translating to 'lip-stinger' and hailing from southern/Mediterranean France by origin, is known for its tingling acidity, but it's also quite an herbal and savory variety, too. Randall Grahm's version is taken from the Beeswax Vineyard, in Arroyo Seco, only a short distance away from the cool breezes of Carmel. Super savory, zippy, with clear maritime aromas attending the wine's yellow fruit. An interesting California answer to the classic Languedoc iteration of this grape.
