Nino Barraco is making perhaps our favorite wines in the region of Marsala; he’s a pioneer in this region previously known only for the oceans of cheap, oxidative, and sweet cooking wine that the British are generally responsible for bastardizing and popularizing. We're so pleased Nino took over family vineyards here some twenty years ago; now we're seeing some of the best dry wines possible in Marsala from his old vineyards, salty shores, and sand dudes. This ‘Bianco G’ is Grillo from 50 year-old bush vines on red soils, planted by Nino’s father. 24 hours on skins before ten months of élevage in a combination of old barrels and concrete. Deep yellow, salted, glorious; an immediate transportation to the Mediterranean.
