This curious, co-fermented "neither red nor white" wine hails from a single vineyard, a field blend of 50% Carignan, 30% Grenache Gris and 20% of various Languedoc-Roussillon white grapes, including Macabeu, Carignan Gris and Tourbat. The vineyard was planted in 1937, making these 80 year old vines, and it's situated at 1475 feet above the sea level on pure granite soil. All of this means this light, deeply herbal red has tons going on: redcurrant, charred rosemary, pink florals, black dirt. It's a gorgeous, unique expression of a wild and special vineyard—and there's nothing else like it in the store!

La Bancale

La Bancale

La Bancale is a small vineyard located in Roussillon, France run by a couple, Bastien Baillet and Céline Schuers. They met as teenagers and quickly bonded over their passion for the outdoors. In their twenties, they both studied and worked in agriculture and Bastien studied viticulture. The couple fell in love with the unique terrior of the Fenouillèdes and the native grape varietals found there and purchased about 1 hectare of old vines in 2014.

The couple now farms about 5 hectares of vines spread out across different parcels. Most of the vines La Bancale work with are native bush vines and over 70 years old. All the vines are farmed according to organic principles. The entire process of growing, harvesting, and fermentation is done by hand, other than some light tractor tilling. The hands-on process combined with the indigenous varietals creates truly genuine wines
